Two Victims Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Law Enforcement Press On With Search for Killer.

The pair of scholars who died in the recent tragic incident in Providence were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter continued following the release by local law enforcement of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, according to the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s branch of the campus GOP group, the group said. The White House press secretary also shared sympathies on social media, remarking: “There are no words. Thinking of her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the Ivy League university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man taken into custody in a search at a hotel about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“A perpetrator remains free,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate new worry for our community”.

The shooter opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering building on over the weekend, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official informed the media outlet.

Officers that raided the hotel found a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the individual was taken into custody, according to reports.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one pupil was allowed to go home, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a independent school in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

More Condolences

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was a shining example in that particular place as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “Our profound condolences go out to Mr Umurzokov’s family, loved ones, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his potential.”
