President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence
Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.
Presidential Offer
The president said he’s discussed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”
Public Reaction
Community members gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in DC.
Paying Tribute to Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that teachers desired. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the leader of her former high school, told the press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”
Memorial details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments
Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the administration to pause asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor the governor mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
