Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
