I'll overwhelm 'credible combatant' Paul - Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight-round contest which will be streamed in real-time on Netflix.
Briton Joshua stated he will "stamp all over" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the pair confronted each other to promote next month's boxing match.
Former two-time unified boxing king Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge disparity - at Miami's arena on December 19th.
Boxer's Mindset
"I will break his face and hurt his body. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, said.
"I will dominate him completely. That's how fighters think.
"I intend to really want to injure him. That's my intention."
Civil Interaction
Despite those words, a relaxed Joshua and social media star Jake Paul - typically known for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.
Paul instead targeted former Joshua's opponent Francis Ngannou and called him "not serious" after Ngannou rejected a bout proposal.
Taking Aim at Tyson Fury
Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK opponent Tyson Fury - and declined a large bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] is better than Fury - he showed up," the boxer stated.
"I respect him for that."
Legitimate Opponent
Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's boxing ability.
"Jake is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.
Paul's History
Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mostly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Financial Success
Nevertheless, the inexperienced fighter is still one of boxing's largest financial successes, consistently making huge earnings.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old anticipated a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected match between Joshua and Fury, which is allegedly being planned for 2026.
"It will be myself against Tyson Fury next year," Paul declared.
Physical Difference
As Joshua and Paul engaged in the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast evident, it drove home just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how amazing it is that the match is really happening.
